When the city of Rhodes refused to help Greece against the Egyptians the Greeks sent a force to punish Rhodes. They built a huge 9 story siege tower which was used against Rhodes. While the tower did massive damage to the outer wall the city survived. Eventually the tower was scraped and sold to Rhodes which used it to build the ancient wonder the Colossus of Rhodes.
