The Big Break

Germany bombed London and other parts of England during the first part of World War II. However, there was basically a three year period when Germany did not bomb England from mid 1941 into 1944. It was during this time that Germany attacked Russia.

Having a dominant “Why?” gene (not to be confused with a “Y” gene), I was spurred by your post to do some surfing regarding this WWII fact, the most concise explanation I found being:
“Hitler believed that England was his for the taking. He believed that England was out of the war and no longer a threat. He also believed that the Soviet Union would attack Germany sooner or later because Russia wanted to expand her empire. The Russians were at Germany’s doorstep and Hitler wanted them away and no longer a threat. He was determined to conquer Europe, and with Great Britain (so he believed) out of the war, Russia would be his next target.”
