A shrew is the smallest mammal and there aren’t any smaller because there cannot be a smaller heart which can still pump blood.

So only mammals have a heart? How do insects pump their blood?
My understanding is that they have a different system that does not include an actual heart. I got this fact from a course on Chaos which was using the circulatory system of mammals as an example of a fractal so he did not elaborate on the circulatory system of non-mammals.
