Creating more shoreline

The original shoreline of south Manhattan is three blocks inland from where it is today. The current shoreline was created from deliberate land filling that occurred from the late 1600’s through the early 1800’s.

Even Shakespeare did what the Queen wanted

Tradition is that after Queen Elizabeth 1 saw a performance of Shakespeare’s ‘The History of Henry IV, with the Humorous Conceits of Sir John Falstaff’, Elizabeth asked Shakespeare to write a play in which Falstaff falls in love. Shakespeare quickly wrote ‘The Merry Wives of Windsor’ which was also enjoyed by the Queen.

The reason that Jews do not think Jesus was the messiah

In the Jewish tradition the future King of Israel was called the messiah. The messiah would be human and not a god. The Jews thought the messiah would be a powerful figure who would overthrow the enemy and not be killed by the enemy. There is no indication that Jewish tradition ever thought that the messiah would die for others, that was a Christian concept created later. The term Christ is the Greek for messiah.

Disappearing act

The number of languages in the world that are being actively spoken are disappearing. It is estimated that in 100 years the number of languages spoken in the world will drop from around 6000 to about 600.
