Even Shakespeare did what the Queen wanted

Tradition is that after Queen Elizabeth 1 saw a performance of Shakespeare’s ‘The History of Henry IV, with the Humorous Conceits of Sir John Falstaff’, Elizabeth asked Shakespeare to write a play in which Falstaff falls in love. Shakespeare quickly wrote ‘The Merry Wives of Windsor’ which was also enjoyed by the Queen.
